Concerts on the second and third of November

pūtēju orķestru diriģentu seminārsProfessional master classes for orchestra conductors will be held at Latvian Academy of Music, which will end with a concert of premieres of brass band compositions, arrangements and arrangements.

2. November at 15.00 in the Great Hall of JVLMA, in the concert, the pieces will be performed under the leadership of new and existing conductors by the University of Latvia  Wind band and the Jazeps Medins’ Riga 1st School of Music Wind Band “Intermezzo”. Wind orchestras will be conducted by future wind orchestra conductors from Ventspils, Jelgava, Cēsis, Rēzekne and Jazeps Medins’ Riga Music High Schools, as well as students of the Wind Orchestra Conducting Department of JVLMA.

Sunday, November 3 at 14.00 in the Great Hall of JVLMA, the concert will have the opportunity to hear the premieres of Latvian composers’ compositions and arrangements for brass bands, the creation of which was encouraged by LNKC. The concert program includes new works by composers Andris Balodis, Alvils Altmanis, Sergejs Austris Universs, Raitis Rērihs, Ilona Breģe and other authors, which will be performed by the Riga Technical University Student Wind Orchestra “SPO”, University of Latvia Wind band and the conductors’ orchestra of Latvian wind bands created especially for this occasion.

LUPO in Kaunas and Vilnius

On September 28 and 29, the University of Latvia  Wind band  together with the wonderful soloists Samanta Rauza (alto saxophone) and Jānis Rinkulis (cello) will give concerts in Kaunas and Vilnius a week later.

The brass band of Vilnus Broniaus Jonušo Music School will also play music at the concerts, under the direction of Rimantas Valančauskas.

 

28.09. – The concert in Kaunas will be held at Kaunas St. in the Archangel Michael’s Church (Kauno Šv. arkangelo Mykolo bačinchia) at 14.00

29.09 – In Vilnius, the orchestra will perform in the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Vilnius Švč. Mergelės Marijos Nekaltojo Prasidejimo baščinchia) at 18.00

Entrance to the concerts is free.

University of Latvia wind band has started its 16th season.

01.09.2024. University of Latvia wind band, like every year, started its new season by participating in the biggest student festival of the University of Latvia “Aristotelis”.

But already on 03.09. we held the first rehearsal, starting preparations for everything planned for this season. See you at the concerts!

ECWO 2024


On May 25, the Fourth European Championship for Orchestras took place. This year it was held in Oslo, Norway.

 

The University of Latvia Wind Band scored 88 points in the competition.

Even though we came seventh out of seven, it was an honor to play on the stage of the Oslo Concert Hall and be among one of the best European orchestras.

LUPO achievements in Estonia

On April 20, the Estonian brass band competition 2024 (Eesti Puhkpilliorkestrite Turniir 2024) took place in Tallinn (Estonia).

University of Latvia Wind Band took part in the E group – the highest level of difficulty.

LUPO won the 1st place and the Grand Prix, as well as the Diploma for the best performance of the compulsory piece.
