LUPO achievements in Estonia

On April 20, the Estonian brass band competition 2024 (Eesti Puhkpilliorkestrite Turniir 2024) took place in Tallinn (Estonia).

University of Latvia Wind Band took part in the E group – the highest level of difficulty.

LUPO won the 1st place and the Grand Prix, as well as the Diploma for the best performance of the compulsory piece.

University of Latvia Wind Band in Tallinn!

On April 20th Estonian brass band competition will be held in Tallinn. Several wind bands from different countries participate in it, including the University of Latvia Wind Band(LUPO). LUPO will participate in E group (Group E starts performing at 17:40) and will also perform before the award ceremony (at 19:40).

LU wind band wins the wind band competition of the XXVI Song and XVI Dance CelebrationRīga, 02.07.2018 – On June 2nd the wind band competition of the XXVI Song and XVI Dance Celebration took place in the Great Guild concert hall with a live broadcast of the Latvian Radio. In this competition 25 of the best orchestras from all over Latvia competed. The orchestras’ performances were reviewed by an international jury, consisting of Guntis Kumačevs, Andris Vecumnieks, Timo Kotilainen (Finland), Dainius Pavilionis (Lithuania) and Andreja Šolar (Slovenia). The grand prix for the best orchestra of 2000 Euro (by Conexus Baltic Grid), lots of Laima chocolate and a Rimi voucher were won by the University of Latvia Wind Band (conductors Jānis Puriņš, Jānis Kaģis).

LU wind band wins competition in Ostrava

Ostrava, 04.06.2017 – The University of Latvia Wind Band has reached a score of 95,4 out of 100 points at the 18. International wind band competition in Ostrava (Czech Republic) under the lead of conductors Jānis Puriņš and Jānis Kaģis. De orchestra has won the „Grand Prix” – a trumpet of the brand „Arnolds & Sons” and became the absolute winner of the competition.
